Verification of tracks made of Marco

Image
I made five tracks of Hurricane Marco, before it was assessed as a tropical cyclone. I made one more track after that point. Additionally, within 480 hours of cyclogenesis, there were eight instances, when I missed cyclogenesis entirely. Intensification to hurricane was consistently missed. As of this analysis, best track positions are available August 15, 00Z thru August 25, 06Z, and as such, position comparisons are possible only for this timespan. Since I give only SSHS categories in my tracks, I don't calculate intensity errors in units of speed, but in categories. For this purpose, I define tropical or subtropical storms as "Category 0", tropical or subtropical depressions as "Category -1" and non-existence of a tropical or subtropical cyclone as "Category -2". In the five tracks (made before operationally recognized cyclogenesis), formation times ranged between August 16, 18Z and August 22, 18Z. Average was August 19, 18Z and median wa

Verification of tracks made of Laura

I made five tracks of Hurricane Laura, before it was assessed as a tropical cyclone. I made three more tracks after that point. Additionally, within 480 hours of cyclogenesis, there were ten instances, when I missed cyclogenesis entirely. As of this analysis, best track positions are available August 16, 18Z thru August 29, 06Z, and as such, position comparisons are possible only for this timespan. In the five tracks (made before operationally recognized cyclogenesis), formation times ranged between August 10, 12Z and August 20, 12Z. Average was August 14, 00Z and median was August 12, 06Z. Verification of tracks made of Kyle

Image
I made no tracks of Tropical Storm Kyle, before it was assessed as a tropical cyclone. I made one track after that point. Within 480 hours of cyclogenesis, there were fourteen instances, when I missed cyclogenesis entirely. I'm going to ensure the extinction of crow! As of this analysis, best track positions are available August 13, 06Z thru August 16, 06Z, and as such, position comparisons are possible only for this timespan. Statistics about formation time are not applicable. In the 15 cases (1 track, before the tracks and data agreed, that tropical storm would remain the peak intensity, and 14 complete misses), peak i

Verification of tracks made of Josephine

Image
I made six tracks of Tropical Storm Josephine, before it was assessed as a tropical cyclone. I made two more tracks after that point. Additionally, within 480 hours of cyclogenesis, there were eleven instances, when I missed cyclogenesis entirely. Longevity and peak intensity were excessive in the tracks. As of this analysis, best track positions are available August 8, 12Z thru August 16, 18Z, and as such, position comparisons are possible only for this timespan. In the six tracks (made before operationally recognized cyclogenesis), formation times ranged between August 5, 06Z and August 11, 12Z. Average was August 8, 16Z an

Verification of tracks made of TD 10

I made four tracks of Tropical Depression Ten, before it was assessed as a tropical cyclone. I made one more track after that point. Additionally, within 480 hours of cyclogenesis, there were twelve instances, when I missed cyclogenesis entirely. As of this analysis, best track positions are available July 29, 18Z thru August 2, 00Z, and as such, position comparisons are possible only for this timespan. In the four tracks (made before operationally recognized cyclogenesis), formation times ranged between July 30, 12Z and August 3, 00Z. Average was August 1, 09Z and median was August 1, 12Z. In the 16 cases (4 tracks, befor

Verification of tracks made of Isaias

Image
I made eleven tracks of Hurricane Isaias, before it was assessed as a tropical cyclone. I made three more tracks after that point. Additionally, within 480 hours of cyclogenesis, there were seven instances, when I missed cyclogenesis entirely. At times, position errors were excessive. As of this analysis, best track positions are available July 23, 18Z thru August 5, 06Z, and as such, position comparisons are possible only for this timespan. In the eleven tracks (made before operationally recognized cyclogenesis), formation times ranged between July 22, 06Z and August 2, 00Z. Average was July 28, 16Z and median was July 29, 1

Verification of tracks made of Hanna

I made six tracks of Hurricane Hanna, before it was assessed as a tropical cyclone. I made three more tracks after that point. Additionally, within 480 hours of cyclogenesis, there were seven instances, when I missed cyclogenesis entirely. As of this analysis, best track positions are available July 20, 18Z thru July 27, 06Z, and as such, position comparisons are possible only for this timespan.
